When it comes to acne, clothing can be the culprit that causes outbreaks on the body.  Although acne is better concealed since clothes can cover embarrassing zits, it can still be bothersome to some people.

To avoid acne, clothing should be clean.  If your clothing is covered in dirt or sweat, it’s likely to be full of bacteria.  When the oils and bacteria clog into the skins pores, a blackhead will begin.   If a blackhead is touched by your hands or clothes, it can cause oils to spread to other areas of the body.

When you wash your clothing, make sure to use a fragrance free detergent.  If you already have blackheads, you do not want to irritate the skin by exposing it to fragrance.  When irritated, these blackheads will turn red causing them to stand out more than before.

You should wear loose clothing whenever possible to avoid fabrics from rubbing against your skin.  If you pop a whitehead, you’re taking the risk of spreading the acne causing oils to other pores which results in more pimples.  Tight clothing can cause this to happen by rubbing against pimples as well.

In addition to tight clothing, you should avoid clothing that causes you to sweat excessively.  Avoid synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, rayon and nylon. These fabrics will trap heat and moisture under the clothing, which increases the chance of pores becoming clogged with acne causing bacteria.

You should buy clothes made from fabrics like cotton, silk, and linen because these tend to breathe better which allows moisture to escape from under your clothing. These are natural fabrics which are the best for people with acne prone skin.

Hopefully these tips will keep your skin acne free.  Now, when it comes to what to do about acne, clothing that you’re wear can be less of a concern.
